7. I have hard drives and CD roms of differrent
modes are there likely to be any problems mixing the modes?
In Theory there should be no problems at all mixing hard
drives and or CD roms of different modes although copying
files between 2 drives can of course only proceed at the slower
of the 2 drive modes. However in practice there are occasional
problems with this though they seem only to occur when the
primary master drive (Hard drive C) is not the fastest (or
equal fastest) mode drive on the system. Although these problems
only occur in a small percentage of cases it is still advisable
that you make your C drive the fastest one on the system since
if nothing else it will cause windows and other programs on
the C drive to load up faster. There is also a possibility
of a problem with UDMA66 drives on motherboards that only
support up to UDMA33 drives. Once again in theory the UDMA66
drive should run correctly as a UDMA33 drive but there are
occasions when it will not. Some drives have settings (or
sometimes utilities) that will specifically tell a UDMA66
drive to behave as a UDMA33 drive.
