Processor Help Pages
5. I am building a PC around
an Athlon 900 Thunderbird CPU. There were 4 small round 'pads'
on the top of the CPU - do these need to be removed before
fitting the heatsink & fan?
Below is a direct quote from AMD
"Notice the rubber pads
on each corner of the processor. These pads are required to
ensure the proper installation of the heatsink. They should
never be removed.
There must be four pads. If a pad is missing, please return
the processor to your supplier.
Do not use itdie damage may result."
