2. What is the difference between AGP1.0,
AGP2.0 and AGP1x/2x and AGP2x/4x. How do I know what version
I have?
Advanced Graphics Port (AGP) was originally brought in
to improve graphics performance for things such as games which
are very graphics intensive. In its original form it used
a 66MHz bus which is twice that of the PCI bus (33MHz). This
original is the AGP1.0 specification with a 1x transfer rate.
The transfer rate was extended to 133MHz (2x)
to give AGP1.0 1x/2x
Next the AGP port specification was improved
to give AGP2.0 still with a transfer rate of 1x/2x
Improvement continued with time until the
time of writing where we currently have AGP port versions
of up to 4.0 and transfer rates of up to 4x
The best way to check your version numbers
and transfer rates is to download a testing utility such as
SiSoft Sandra (available as a free download from 5Star on
